Lara McDonnell hails from Dublin.
Lara’s first taste of film was playing a young Lily Collins in “Love, Rosie” in 2013. She made her stage debut in “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” in Dublin’s Bord Gais Energy Theatre in 2014. Following this she went on to play the lead role in The Royal Shakespeare Company’s “Matilda the Musical” in the Cambridge Theatre in London’s West End from 2015-16. Movie roles followed this, playing the role of a Young Anne Brontë in BBCs production of “To Walk Invisible” as well as the role of Alannah in “The Delinquent Season” opposite Cillian Murphy.
Lara’s next role was as lead Captain Holly Short in Disney’s adaptation of Eoin Colfer’s “Artemis Fowl”, directed by Sir Kenneth Branagh and working alongside Dame Judi Dench. More recent yet to be released projects include “Belfast”, again directed by Branagh, with more projects in the works.
