Can I Buy a Face by Stan Wilks

David was a superstar salesman, effortlessly projecting the image of fame and fortune. He was nothing without his face.

After a pleasant sleep, he awakens to the same routine, beginning with a gaze at the mirror.

His face is gone.

Only two bulging eyes define his head. He rushes to his TV, welcomed by a news presenter...

Also without a face.

Driving past homes, shops and parks reinforces the same bleak image. Everyone is faceless. He stumbles on a superstore named Face-Space, in which hundreds wait in line, hoping for the same thing. “Can I buy a face?” David wondersinternally.
