Kelly's Key by Sarah Leavesley

Kelly takes the lawyer’s key. He disappears, leaving her by the thick oak door to a hidden room apparently bequeathed to her by an ex-friend’s uncle.

Queen of twisting others’ misfortunes to her advantage, Kelly turns the key and pushes her way in. The door slams shut. The small windowless room is dimly lit. Nothing inside except her, a flickering bulb and stank air in a space cramped enough to be a tomb.

“What the hell?” Kelly goes to open the door… It’s locked, with no sign now of a keyhole. She peers at the key, reads her initials, then K.A.R.M.A.
