MAY'S WINNER: Killing Time
Nobody died today because the Reaper dropped his watch. Its face cracked; cogs sprung free – time stopped.
Without time, it was impossible for the Reaper to claim his souls, impossible for anyone to die. Unfortunately, without time, it was also impossible to do anything else. Runners were stuck mid-step, lovers mid-kiss, couples mid-argument, bailiffs mid-fist, politicians mid-boll… the whole world paused, except for the tides, as night and day, moon and sun, carried on regardless.
Nobody died today, but nobody lived either.
Killing time, the reaper had never been so bored. He started to count grains of sand into an hourglass.
