One More Week

I knew it was coming. Every day I’d walk home from the college, get to my front door and grimace at what awaited.

Turning the door handle, I stepped inside and shut it quickly behind me. A split second later my glasses were assaulted by the warmth and completely fogged up. Blindly, I reached for them, fumbling with my gloved hands. A moment later I was set upon by not one, not two, but three Labradors, each one more excited than the next to see me home from school.

One more week, I reminded myself; one more week until the holidays.
