The Stranger

It was silent and black except for a glow under their closed door.

The 7-year-olds hated the dark.

“Shhhh. Can you see that?”.

Simon’s sister Charlotte obeyed his instructions, halting her rendition of ‘Let it go’ once again.

Shadows danced around in the streak of light.

It was 2am. Everyone should’ve been asleep.

“Who is it?”.

“I dunno. Oh god, close your eyes - It’s coming in”.

Eyes clamped shut, they listened intently for clues as the stranger shuffled around their room.

The door closed again.

“Are you ok?”.

“I think so.”. He paused “They took my tooth and left £2!”.
