“You’re just being over-dramatic. It’s not a big deal” “You know what this means to me!” Cassie shrieked. “Oh come on... you understood what I meant.” “Why is it always me who has to understand what you mean? Why can’t you try to understand me? You won’t take it on board. When I snap my fingers, you’ll say, ‘Oh, stop goofing around!’. I’m not goofing around. I’m autistic. It’s called stimming. That doesn’t mean you’re a failure as a parent. It just means I’m different.” Their mom looked at Cassie, her face softening. “There’s a lot I don’t understand,” she said.
