Winter War

The light was fading fast, the spirits of the troops even faster. Somehow, frostbite seemed a more imminent enemy than the people armed to the teeth a few metres away. Sam nodded at her comrades on either side. It was time to finish this. With an almighty roar, they charged on the opposition, firing on them left right and centre. Victory was almost theirs. Sam aimed at the final standing enemy, but pain filled her chest and she could no longer breathe. She had been hit. Shock, horror, dread-
